The Checkride Oral: Connecting Knowledge, Risk, and Skill

In this episode

Study materials and practice

Use the deep links below with your instructor and the current information for your actual airplane. Bring a proposed flight, show where each input came from, and practice explaining what changes when an input changes. The airport names and arithmetic are fictional teaching examples, with no model-specific performance numbers.

Suggested practice: change the departure time, loading, wind, destination weather, or available equipment one item at a time. Identify the new evidence needed, recalculate what changes, then choose the next action. Keep flight control, position, terrain, traffic, and weather in view while using cockpit resources.

The episode runs 41 minutes 24 seconds. Its 18 embedded chapters have been reviewed against the accepted audio.
